Certified Digital Evidence · Launching 2026

Proof that a digital record existed — in this exact form, at this exact moment, attributable to this party.

Data Certification Technologies (DCT) is a patented, disinterested third-party platform that produces cryptographically signed, timestamped, court-ready records of digital files — records any court, opposing counsel, or auditor can verify independently, without trusting DCT, the customer, or any intermediary.

The Opportunity

Disputes turn on one question: is this record authentic?

The legal and insurance industries spend extraordinary sums every year resolving disputes that hinge on whether a digital record existed, unaltered, at a specific time. When that question can be answered cleanly — with cryptographically verifiable evidence — disputes settle faster, subrogation recovers more, audits close on time, and litigation cost drops. When it cannot, the cost falls on insurers, defense counsel, claims operations, and the parties they serve.

Three forces have converged to make this an urgent commercial market:

The rules of evidence changed

Federal Rules of Evidence 902(13) and 902(14), added in 2017, allow electronic records to self-authenticate when their integrity can be cryptographically demonstrated — reducing the live-witness foundation work that traditionally made digital evidence slow and expensive to present.

AI

AI created a provenance problem

Parties increasingly need to prove a record is original, has not been AI-altered, or — equally — was AI-generated and attributable to a specific source. This need now spans legal discovery, regulatory compliance, and content verification.

Chain of custody keeps breaking

Insurance subrogation, regulatory audit, healthcare records, and compliance workflows move records through many hands. Each hand-off is a moment where custody can break. An unbroken cryptographic chain from origination forward resolves a category of cost the affected parties currently absorb.

The Platform

A digital notary for files, built to evidentiary standards

A customer submits a document, image, or any digital asset. The platform performs a sequence of cryptographic operations that produce a certificate of authenticity tied to that exact file, that exact moment, and a specific signing party. The customer receives a human-readable PDF certificate and a machine-readable evidence package — either of which any third party can verify independently using public tools, without a DCT account.

From file to court-ready certificate — every step automated, logged, and verifiable by any third party.

Secure intake

Files arrive via web upload or REST API, encrypted in transit and at rest to industry standard.

Cryptographic fingerprint

A SHA-256 hash is computed across the file's bytes, with SHA3-256 in parallel for forward agility as algorithms evolve.

Independent trusted timestamp

The hash is timestamped by an independent commercial Time-Stamp Authority under RFC 3161 — the international standard underpinning legally accepted timestamps since 2001.

Hardware-protected signing

The hash and timestamp are signed with a key protected by a hardware security module. Private keys never leave the HSM; every signing operation is logged at the infrastructure layer.

Tamper-evident retention

The signed package is stored in write-once-read-many (WORM) storage with cross-region replication. Every action that touches the record — ingest, view, share, retrieve — is logged to a hash-chained, append-only audit trail.

Why Neutrality Matters

The disinterested third-party position

Neutrality is structural: DCT certifies the record, but no one must trust — or even contact — DCT to verify it.

Structural, not a slogan

The rules of evidence require that records of regularly conducted activity be authenticated without bias. A vendor with skin in the underlying dispute cannot credibly serve that role. DCT has no interest in the substantive outcome of any matter it certifies — only in the integrity of its certification process. Our customers' adversaries, the courts, and the auditors who rely on our records all benefit from that neutrality.

Built for self-authentication — honestly framed

No vendor can make a record "court admissible"; admissibility is decided by a judge based on the foundation counsel lays. What DCT records are designed to do is make self-authentication under FRE 902(11)–(14) straightforward — reducing the foundation work and witness time a proponent needs. We provide the technical evidence in a form purpose-built to support admission; we do not promise admission itself.

Intellectual Property

An issued patent on the certification architecture

US 9,875,374 B2
Issued January 23, 2018 · approximately nine years of remaining term

The patent protects the specific four-tier architecture the platform implements — registered data ingest, a staging tier that assigns signatures and validates transmission integrity, authenticated presentation, and certified storage with retention and litigation-hold properties — together with the corresponding method claim addressing certification of records for originality and use in evidentiary contexts.

We frame it the way diligence will: the patent is a defensive asset on our architecture. It gives us leverage against direct copycats and strengthens the cryptographic-rigor positioning that defines our category. It is not framed as a market monopoly — competitors can and do build on different architectures, and our strategy assumes they will. Our advantage rests on the combination of the patent, the disinterested third-party position, deep domain expertise in our first vertical, and the operational discipline of the platform itself.

The four-tier pattern protected by US 9,875,374 B2 — the same architecture the platform implements.

Go-To-Market

First vertical: insurance subrogation & legal evidence

The platform is horizontal by design — anywhere certified digital evidence has economic value. We are leading commercially where our domain depth is greatest.

Forty years of domain depth

Our founder spent four decades in insurance and risk management, concentrated in high-risk programs where evidentiary clarity drives cost recovery. The patterns that produced cost-effective subrogation in those programs are the same patterns the DCT platform codifies.

Clear buyer economics

Subrogation that resolves under the business records rule in a fraction of conventional litigation time is the kind of cost reduction defense counsel and claims operations actively buy. The certificate-of-authenticity artifact maps directly to how subrogation claims are established.

A wedge, then expansion

Once proven in subrogation, the same certification engine extends to medical records, compliance audit, and certified release of public records — each an expansion on a proven platform, not a new product build.

Product Roadmap

A focused V1, then stages earned by demand

We are sequencing deliberately. The V1 product proves the core certification platform and earns the first paying customers. Each later stage is gated on a real-world signal — a paying customer requires the capability, a sponsor commits, or a market matures. Investor capital is committed against demonstrated demand, not an upfront kitchen-sink build.

For Investors

We are raising a seed round to take a focused V1 to market

The seed is sized to carry the company from its current pre-build position through V1 launch and into the first paying design-partner contracts — build cost, twelve months of operating runway, initial go-to-market in the first vertical, and reserves for the specialized legal, securities, and patent counsel an early-stage regulated platform requires.

Accredited investors interested in the category are invited to contact us. We would welcome the opportunity to walk through the technical brief and cost detail with you and the technical advisor of your choice.
